Modern biology has progressed immeasurably over the past few generations, but still shows a basic lack of understanding of psychic energy flow. Seven chakras, or energy centers, are located in different parts of the body. Heart chakra meditation is an effective method of helping the body to regain balanced energy in times of internal unheaval.
Physical pain, muscle cramps and emotional problems such as panic attacks and depression are typical signs of unbalanced energy centers. For some, spiritual distress can also result, making it hard to be motivated to participate in day to day life. Meditating can aid the body in restoring proper function, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, and overall cardiac function. Even chakras meditation for beginners will make sleeping easier and more restful.
Dysfunction within the chakras can be caused by many triggers. Sending too much or little energy through each chakra can cause them to stop working correctly. Sometimes it can be triggered by obsessive thoughts, stress or working too hard. Heart chakra meditation is probably the most pronounced results, though there are other ways to manipulate internal energy flows.
This meditative technique was developed centuries ago by practitioners of the Sufi belief system, however it is compatible with all of the major religions. The traditional Jewish Qabalah beliefs associate the area around the heart with faith and love. Christian Kabbalah also associate the heart chakra with healing and Jesus Christ.
Careful inhalation and exhalation and controlled movements are used in heart chakra to permit energy to flow freely. It is used as an exercise for grounding or balancing as well as to energize. Emotional release opens the heart chakra and permits unrestricted self love.
The heart chakra is located behind the spine near the heart. The Sanskrit word for the heart chakra is Anahata, meaning the sound that is created in this region of the body. Anahata is responsible for intuitive decisions, rather than choices made based on scientific facts. It is also connected with love and generosity. Body parts associated with Anahata include the skin, endocrine system and hands.
Green semiprecious stones, such as malachite or emerald, are known to assist heart chakra meditation. Visualizing glowing green around the heart chakra can help dissipate negative emotions when meditating.
When considering starting meditation for beginners, staying simple is always best. A light snack will prevent hunger from distracting you. Roomy clothing made from natural fibers will make it easier to focus on the task at hand. A refreshing shower or cool drink can help you relax enough to concentrate on the exercises.
Having a quiet, private location for at least twenty minutes is essential for focus. Meditating the same time every day will help make descending into meditation come more easily. First thing in the morning is an excellent time to meditate, giving you a calm start to the day.
Even though Western cultures are relatively late to understand the importance of meditation, popularity is growing rapidly. Medicine is slowly catching up, teaching the younger health care providers about the benefits of meditation. Younger health care providers are learning to incorporate heart meditation with their medical practices for the best results.
